Colombia Medical Guide exists because the information landscape around medical travel is split between two unhelpful extremes: glossy marketing that promises paradise, and horror-story journalism that implies everyone comes home in a worse state than they left. The truth lives in the middle, and it's procedural: people who verify credentials, plan realistic timelines, and follow instructions overwhelmingly do well. People who chase the cheapest quote on the shortest timeline supply the horror stories.
So we built the middle: an eight-stage field guide that treats you like a capable adult making a significant decision. It's part of a network of Colombia-focused medical travel guides anchored by Colombia Medical, with procedure-level sites for each specialty.
How we make money, plainly
We connect readers with vetted resources and providers in Colombia, and some links on our sites are referral or affiliate links. That's the business model, disclosed. What it buys you: everything here is free, there's no email wall, and no provider pays to skip our standards. What it doesn't change: our advice. Half this guide is about how to verify people — including anyone we might point you toward. Stage 2 applies to everyone.
The editorial rules we hold ourselves to
- Prices are typical ranges, never quotes — and we say so every time.
- The WHO ranking is cited with its year (2000), always. Historical context, not a current scorecard.
- No fabricated testimonials, statistics, or named patients. If we can't source it, we don't say it.
- Accreditation is described accurately — JCI accredits hospitals, not individual doctors.
- We tell you when not to go. Stage 1 has a whole section on it.
